The Morning Ritual
The garage door started to creep up
Just like every other morning
White lights beam through the morning fog
It was just a short while until she reached the stoplight
that graciously let her pass every morning
with a bright green glow
She continued on to the shop on the corner
arriving just as he did every morning
waiting for her as he wiped down the
seemingly immaculate countertop
All she needed to do was walk in,
The crisp dollar bills in hand,
And open her hand for the first coffee of her day
It was not much to hang on to
but that small interaction between her and the server
will always renew her anticipation
of the next morning ritual
