What do I see?
I see what they see
Until I splash the fakeness away,
Rip off the layers and shed the skin of lies
Shy at first-yes
Athletic-yes
But that's just skimming the surface
Water always looks pretty from above;
Beautiful and glistening
Yet dive in and it's frigid
Shockingly cold
That is where the darkness takes over
Everything is silent-uncomfortably silent
Open your eyes and nothing is clear
It's murky and you can't see a thing
Everything is mushy and gross
You can't find anything solid to grasp to keep you from floating up
Up, up, up-back to the surface of lies
where everything is pretty on the outside
