"an ode to every male english major i’ve ever met."(Fish are Swimming in My Watch Again)
I think time has stopped.
Your mouth is flapping. Always flapping.
Making up for lost time.
Your teeth are large and yellow.
They snap and click.
I hear you talking now.
Each word is a forceful drip.
Chinese water torture to my ears.
I answer oh yes. Why certainly. I agree.
I feel a rubbery smile inch across my face.
Slowly my eyes skate to the right and left.
Gasping at a chance to jump.
Your lobster eyes question me.
You truly do not comprehend that staying next to you.
Holding your sweaty paw.
Is very slowly sucking the life from me.
But still your mouth flaps back and forth.
