My Hero
There was a man in my life.
He had been present since day one.
My aunt was his wife,
And my cousin; his son
He was cheerful and joyous,
Until that miserable morning
When we learned of the heartache before us.
Everything happened without warning.
Cancer, that dreadful disease,
Held the key to my uncles freedom.
But rather it attack him, seemingly with ease.
Like a vicious king punishes his kingdom.
But my uncle fought back
Like a determined soldier,
Heading into battle and fighting off every attack.
Never had I seen anyone bolder.
October 26, 2010,
A cold and rainy day.
The battle had ended,
My uncle passed away.
We were overwhelmed with sadness.
My uncle was laid to rest.
His soul taken to a new world of hopefulness.
But I know we will be reunited,
For He only takes the best.
