Fishing
Early in the cool morning
They swivel and glide smoothly, all in front of me.
I walk along the bank
The crackle and crunch beneath my feet.
I stand…
The bell of salvation,
The beginning of time.
I watch the others like ghosts from the fog.
Ziii ziii zing! Whip! Splash!
The air rushes into my lungs
I can taste it’s odor in my mouth
So clean, fresh, and soothing.
I can feel the determination, love, and excitement;
We are the family that had never been
We are the fishermen.
