I am from fastballs,
from screwballs and knuckleballs.
I am from sliding and diving in the dirt and sand.
I am from aluminum, composite and leather,
whose scratches and dents all hold their own glorious story.

I am from a block world,
from mining, crafting, and building.
I am from the pickaxes and swords,
from diamonds and coal,
I am from the underground realm,
with caves and crevices,
and seven ores I can find by myself.

I am from the first down tree,
and lamp post goal lines,
from the touchdown pass across the field,
to the meetings we had to discuss rules.

I am from the rack of games in the basement,
overflowing with boxes, old and new,
that I have come to love.
I am from Scattergories and Monopoly,
and all the fun I had with them.

I am from those memories,
long gone as they are now.
I am from me, myself, and I, young and old, games and sports.
