A Kind Stranger

October 15, 2008

She visits everyday, a yellow silent cat
For the food and water I give with sympathy
Pity for a stray cat, a lonely soul in hunger
Anywhere she goes, she is met with shouts of anger

She walks in the shadows of the world
Hated and shooed away by everyone
Her steps are as if she doesn't reach the ground
Wincing and hiding at every sound

Everytime she comes, she looks around my yard
Glaring at every living soul, an old spider on a web
Jumps back at the sudden flight of a bird
Takes a step or two, scared and unsure

She finally relaxes when I turn away my gaze
I am a kind stranger to her every day
