Just Stop and Smell the Daisies
Time, never-ending.
Life, ever-changing.
As I watch the people pacing
And the rapid roadsters racing
Up and down the busy streets,
Another minute is slipping
Through my unfeeling fingers.
I look one way,
A single second leaves me.
I turn around,
And gone are several days.
Why don’t we just stop
and smell the daisies?
The wind whispers
Soft sounds of serenity,
But the bustle of the big city
Consumes it;
Goliath approaching fire eyed.
There is no place to hide,
So I must submit.
The towers keep rising,
Sky-high.
The streets stretching nowhere,
Twisted and awry.
Days are passing,
By and by.
We all grow older,
No one can deny.
If only time would simply freeze
For us to watch the sunset-
For us to gaze at the stars.
For us to stop and smell the daisies.
