Houston, Texas
The greater mistake has been made
Our silent goodbyes given as a seal.
These strange, un-whispered words
Screaming through your eyes
Enough to break my heart
With my certainty of their quiet meaning.
I’m wishing for words
To say and be said-
And I’m wishing for a silent place,
Safe and still,
Where it can just be you and I.
And when you touch my skin
I am not alone
And I am not scared
I am loved
And I am prepared.
Dawn is rising,
The day is soon to break.
And we are together
If only for tonight.
But the greater mistake has been made
And this is goodbye.
