6 AM Ride
Rise before the sun; out the door.
Wheels turning fast
Cool morning breeze through tangled bed-head.
Early early morning (or is it late night? I cannot tell.)
Stars and moon shine bright,
As I whiz down to the park.
Take off shoes, toes feel the chill.
Climb the maple branches, soft bark against my back.
Look up through the branches, purple night sky.
Peace.
I couldn't sleep tonight again
I hopped right up out of my bed.
I threw the covers on the floor, then promptly walked
Right out the door!
My medicine has worn off now, no more sleeping
once the cold wakes my bones.
Ride to the park, climb a tree, look at stars.
Peace.
