And All the Cars Pass By

September 28, 2008

Driving down,
I look far left.
I see a child
Sitting next to the road.
Closer I go-
Wait no!
It is no child.
It is an old lady.
Who fell from her bike.
Hurt.
Crying.
Holding onto her scabbed knee.
All the cars pass by.
Not one glimpse back.
To help her.
To ask her.
If she is going to be alright.
Sadly, I drive past too.
I’m late for an appointment.
Looking in the rearview mirror,
I’m sorry to say.
But the old lady is still sitting there.
Hurt.
Crying.
Holding onto her scabbed knee.
And all the cars pass by.
Not one glimpse by.
To help her.
To ask her.
If she is going to be alright.
