Sing in me, Muse, and through me tell the story
of that man skilled in all ways of contending,
the achiever, going above and beyond for years on end,
after he conquered the peaks of his goals
on the unthinkable heights of his ambition.

He saw the competition
and learned the secrets of their success,
and perfected their technique
in his mind, heart, and soul,
while he strove to be the best.
Not once did mighty Teddy,
champion of paper, and of field, bat an eye
at his bright-eyed opponents and swift-footed competition.

And when the long seasons and months past,
the wheel of life brought around new
eager-minded and gifted-bodied challengers,
he the undefeated champion, Teddy,
will not cease to exceed the limits,
till the last bell rung and final whistle blown.

Homer's invocation to the muse in the beginning of the Odyssey inspired this poem. The beginning of my poem is based upon the outline of Homer's muse;"Sing in me, Muse, and through me tell the story".
