A Pair of Sandles

Warped skin toughened by sunshine, dampened by waves
Silty sand coating, darkening, agitating the leather Sandal imprints left when the ripples of the waves recede
Shrills of children carried through the sea foam Parasols twirling in the wind as young girls prance through the waters
Seaweed tattooed fingers and salt encrusted toes
Daydreamers make believing in the sand
Everyone’s minds drifting Everyone having too much fun No one noticing my favorite pair of sandals drifting out to sea.
