Greying Adolescence
Ever so gently a chrysalis falls,
Like all else, the memory fades away,
A girl’s first friend, a porcelain glass doll,
The things I used to love start to decay.
Holding on is the only thing that matters now,
Affection and love are hard for the shy,
To inner turmoil and strife we bow,
Life seems to shift in a blink of an eye.
This trepidation haunts me in the night,
Like the hiding monsters that used to creep,
Soaked in the words that have a nasty bite,
From my mind reality begins to seep.
Another day I must face head on,
For my darling chrysalis, is now gone.
