Into the Mouth

September 3, 2008

Placid movements, from land to boat
The floor swayed carelessly beneath my barefoot toes
Breath hitching as it tossed, bringing bleak nightmares
Husband spiraling into the blue satan, corking his throat
From my melancholy eyes drip liquid despair
Reflecting my despondency of having 20 years of love pilfered
I'm on the edge, staring down, unblinking
Into the eyes of his murderer, the enemy, my savior
Collapsing into its wide mouth, my eyelids never slump
My arms spread open, freedom. Lovely, hideous, freedom
