Afraid to Die

Water is my greatest fear.
My strength has left me now.
I shake my head, my thoughts to clear.
The rushing is far too loud.
The waves reach out to grab me.
I cannot hope to get away.
I am sucked in violently.
My world is turned to disarray.
I gasp for breath, it does it come.
In panic I must thrash about.
Death draws near, a steady hum.
I'm overcome by fear and doubt.
Yet intervenes a helping hand.
Someone strong lifts me high.
Once again, allowed to stand.
Once again, afraid to die.
