The Winter Day

The Sun peeks out from its resting place at night,
Playing hide-and-seek with its ever-shining light.
Hidden behind a cloud here or there,
Making a small but distinct warmth in the chilly air.

The clouds do begin to grow in strength,
Expand their mass and increase their length.
Impending their bulk upon the Sun,
Venturing to assure the wane warmth is all through and done.

Alas, the clouds do win this fight,
For occupying the sky, and then show all their might.
Creating within moments a freezing blast,
A snowstorm with rage building up fast.

The fury of the tempest accumulates steadily,
And the flurry of precipitation begins to fall heavily.
Threatening to envelope the entire countryside,
The blizzard causes every man and beast to seek shelter and hide.

All through the night, the storm goes on and on and on.
Starting to recede a tad after dawn.
And as the Sun into its place did slide,
The vehemence of the gale finally did subside.

The slight snowflakes drop towards the ground,
Glittering, gleaming, not making a sound.
Embellishing the railings, buildings and trees,
Getting carried away by the gentle but frosty breeze.

Therefore what before seemed so cruel and mean,
Turned out to be nature in a form so pristine,
Every soul did venture out to catch a glimpse of the picturesque panorama,
A piece of art, a mere prop, from Nature’s own drama.
