A Thousand Years
A hypnotic gaze and hungry smile.
Gold climbs his back in rows of tile.
Lonely eyes tell a tale of exile.
Frightened inside when all the while,
We think of him as cruel and vile.
We yearn for him to be in pain.
Fate is set, in heaven stated.
From life's ease and pleasures cheated.
Always fleeing, hunted, hated.
Twisted legends, tales outdated.
A thousand years he's watched and waited,
But time will never break the chain.
This wretched beast, his mournful roar,
Depicts what his life has in store.
Never learns, returns for more.
Looks for freedom, lost the door.
To seek his heart he must explore,
And never here with us remain.
