America
With numbers for stars in your sky, did you cry
America when you lost all your light
Did the cities begin o crumble, to swim
In the sea when you lost all your life
With pills for your sleep in the night, did you weep
America when you sold all your dreams
Did the mountains all fall, on your knees did you crawl
In the dust when you dried up your streams
With oil for blood in your heart, did you starve
America when you ate all your hope
Did your heroes resign as your temperature climbed
And shops doors to your tired streets close
With paper for skin on your feet, did you bleed
America when you walked your own row
Did your dreamers decay as worlds wasted away
Did the fires consume all your beautiful blooms
As our hearts and our hopes wrought their woes in cold stone-
America-
When are you coming home?
