It And I
I can feel it out of the corner of my eye.
It lurks in ev'ry dream and ev'ry photograph,
Shifting imperceptibly in my crowded mind.
But when I search for it, my eyes drift right on by.
It's the wind's whisper on ev'ry phonograph,
The first lover that I could never seem to find.
It's the irrational teardrop in my dry eye,
The feeling in ev'ry black and white photograph.
It's only sign, the absence I feel in my mind.
