I Always Said 'I Love You'
I always said ‘I love you’
walking in the park with your arm around me
curled up on the beach with our toes in the waves
watching the sunset of the millennium
(it was only that good because you were there)
I always said ‘I love you’
especially when you laughed at my stupid jokes
or when your cheeks got all red when you were embarrassed
or when you cried at the end of the movie
because I knew you needed to hear it
I always said ‘I love you’
sometimes I said it before I really meant it
and sometimes, I didn’t think I meant it at all
but when they buried you yesterday
I realized
I meant it
