My Paradox
Tomorrow when I wake,
And find the will to stand,
I've beaten all my logic,
And fulfilled our silly plan.
For sometimes in the morning,
And those wee times of the night,
I contemplate the universe
And the smallness of my life.
Often it is difficult,
To accept these terms of scale, Because we want to be important,
A significant detail.
But from ashes to ashes,
And from dust to dust,
Our only remaining lifeline,
Will be the memory we trust.
So tomorrow when I wake,
And stumble to my feet,
I'll have done myself a justice,
With intellectual defeat.
