Hour of Misery
I regret the year of our meeting,
Was the year of my shame.
My glory was fleeting,
Then consumed in flame.
I wish you knew me,
In both glory and fall,
So that you may see,
My least and my all.
Maybe you would understand,
Some bitterness that I hold,
Would that you took my hand,
And let me unfold.
Perhaps I could know,
Your glory and your fall,
Perchance we might go,
Through it all.
I realise this may seem foolish,
Uncalled for, or odd,
But some memories are ghoulish,
And are as lightning to rod.
Now, my value to others seems low,
And I die inside to know,
No person could ever dare,
For me with that truest of care.
