Dreaming.
I dreamt last night that we were young again
That you held my hand
And called me friend.
We explored the city
And danced beneath the lights
We smoked stolen cigarettes
And laughed all night.
We slept on the street
Naïve and free
High on the taste of your mouth
I had found my way out.
A home I had left miles behind
And though they chased me
I was someone they never did find
I was lost in the emerald city of your eyes.
We drove to the countryside
To watch the sun rise
And we laid there for a while
Bodies intertwined and traveling for miles and miles.
I awoke this morning to memories of you
The dream leaving an ache for you in my chest
So I bought you some flowers
And walked down our road
I walked down to your place of rest.
I laid them on your grave
I cried
I tried to pray
I drink a bottle of wine and tasted your name.
And there I laid
Next to you
Until the clouds rolled in
And the rain washed me away.
