David, remember when we used to hide away,
David, remember when we used to hide away,
Gather our stuffed animals and sleep in the closet.
We’d whisper to each other
The world is ending.
Tonight, the sky is falling in Paris
And I’ve got nothing tangible worth saving.
And your train is six years too late.
We can’t pretend that I’m the same girl
That you left stranded in Westbahnhof station
You remember how it rained that day?
The water stung like hail on my raw skin.
It left a scar.
I still wish there had been lightning;
I wish that it had electrified me.
Things could have been so different.
But I was alone when the clock ticked to six.
The whistle shrieked; a shadow in the puffs of steam.
I would have forgiven you.
You can say anything, David.
You could have said anything.
The sky is falling here.
I’ve got empty closets and nothing to hide from.
