Just Beyond My Reach

I run across the moonlit shore,
Chasing after something in which I do not understand.
Swathed in mystery, in adventure, in hope.
Have I chosen the right pathway for my life,
Pursuing something that is hard to obtain,
And often ends in sorrows?
A small promise in the distance,
Just beyond my reach.
