Only God Knows
Before the first light shone and the first clock ticked- before the first person began to yearn.
Before the first rain slicked or the first trigger clicked-
Even before the first person began to yearn.
Nothing was everything and everything was nothing.
A great darkness shone across an empty space. It shadow covered nothing and it was shadowed by nothing.
It yearned something, at least anything- to shine upon its face.
The blackness emptied itself onto blackness.
It had no when and where.
There were no creatures, no planets, no stars, no nothing.
Darkness was the only thing there.
