Landing in Atlanta
blanket of the gods
protects a city of
machines
and appointments as it
draws near
with the rapidity of
a romantic date unwanted
through the
black—guided by moon’s
placid dream,
luring engines of flight like magnets
to the edge of the
thickest waves and through
to the core—
an encompassing layer
of fluff
where noise stops and thoughts
slow until
mechanics thrust
through sleepy eyes
into blue-tinted
consciousness
of coffee,
interstates and time
