The Fork and the Pea

Clank, clank!
It is the menacing cry of the monster trying to capture its prey
It stabs its victims who are too paralyzed with fear to flee
There is one though, who is willing to fight:
The lone split pea
It rolls as fast as it can across a wide plane littered with past victims
There's the last of the mashed potatoes, they had no chance
The last one standing, it rolls back and forth, trying to evade the jabbing of the monster
Clank! Miss. Clank!
