Poison
There lay the body of innocence
Poisoned by the blackness of lies
Surrounded by a pool of her own blood
The very thing that gives life
Her eyes were glassed over,
No longer able to see
A single tear of release caught on the corner of her pale cheek
Her cold lips that had never been kissed were open in a sigh of relief
Her stiff hands clutched emptiness
The very thing that had been present in her existence
Her head was turned to look at the sky to which she saw the escape
Her heart no longer beat its unsteady race of terror
But remained silent
Her soul did not linger
And yet one could feel the presence of a child so confused
Where did she go?
Only a place so forgiving and warm that one like her may enter
Perhaps one should look to the sky,
As she so willingly did
With a hope filled gaze and a shattered heart
