Seasons
And I saw the shattered glass
Sprayed across the living room floor
And in the heart of my home
You pounded on my door
You screamed at the walls
And tried to tell me I was wrong
And still I didn't listen
And left you outside all winter long
And when Spring came around
There you were again
Sitting on my lawn
Determined you would win
And there you waited
Until Summer arrived
The heat drove me crazy
And it forced me to go outside
And there you stood with open arms
And a big smile on your face
Because you knew you had succeeded
You had won the race
And I was forced into submission
Into your welcoming embrace
And there we stood together
Until Fall showed its pretty face
And outside we waited
Until the snow came 'round again
But instead of leaving you outside
I allowed you in
And you knew that I had given up
But at the same time, not quite
For I had taken up a new challenge
To accept you were my light
