Fade Away
Her terrified screams fill the night.
His memory fills her dreams with fright.
She needs to escape his reminiscence.
She sees him everywhere she goes,
but everybody knows
she reaches out for him, bright as day,
but he's just an illusion that just fades away.
Even though he's gone, he's still here.
He visits her in her dreams; he still whispers in her ear.
She needs to let him go.
Waking up screaming just to find
he is no longer her's to call "mine."
All day in her room she lays
watching her life little by little fade away.
Was it nothing more than a dream?
It was real, but so long ago it seems.
She picks up the phone just to hear it ring.. then she remembers:
He touches her face
and walks away.
She opens her eyes
just to watch him slowly fade away.
