Diamond in the Rough
Before you met me,
I was unhappy.
Then you came into my life
and made me feel alive.
My parents think I'm sick
'cause my smiling just won't quit.
No one makes me feel like you do.
I walk a little faster in the hallway just to get next to you.
Your memory distracts me in class;
you can see into my eyes like clear glass.
Just one touch,
now I'm in love.
I know it sounds corny and dumb,
but I'd rather feel than be completely numb.
One earphone in your ear, the other in mine.
Like two souls combined.
This is more than the story of how the blue-eyed girl
fell in love with the brown-eyed boy who rocked her world.
This is so much more than it seems.
You're my teenage dream.
All my life,
you've been out of sight.
Faith is what you give.
You taught me how to live.
You found your way into the mine.
To your surprise, look what there was to find.
You found the key to the lock.
I threw out a diamond 'cause I was too busy gathering rocks.
Love was blinding; I couldn't see.
All you had to do was come by and polish me.
Now I shine brighter than any gem. No sunglasses can make my light dim.
Just when I thought I had enough,
you became my diamond in the rough. :)
