Red Ripples

The folds of a simple rose,
Its petals shining brilliantly in the light.
The ripples of red velvet,
Cascading from a queen's gown.
A cracked and dying heart,
Bleeding from hurt and pain.
The seal of a precious letter,
Unopened to the world.
A ruby of exquisite beauty,
Dazzlingly perfect on the woman's hand,
The numbers illuminated on our clock,
Stressing student's thoughts.
The flags stripe we fought to keep safe,
Dying in battle for its protection.
Or a heart shaped box of chocolates,
Being handed to the wife you love,
Dying slowly in a hospital.
What does it mean to you?
