A Love Sonnet

He glanced at her from across the dark room
Unaware the pain his gesture did cause.
She turned to leave for she felt she was doomed
"Stop," he said softly and indeed she paused
"We can't do this now, we've tried to before"
She spoke these words softly, wishing he'd known
The nights that she longed he'd come through that door
Wishing for the love that once he had shown.
"We can make it work," he breathed in her ear.
She sighed, "but what about our horrid past,"
He held her so close, he felt her shed tears.
"It doesn't matter, we can make it last,"
One week later he disappeared on cue,
Where he had gone she didn't had a clue.
