Ode to the World Around Us
I sit on my tire swing
On those idle summer days
Listening to the songbirds sing
I stare at the sun’s rays
That warms my face like hot soup in December
And shines brighter than Mom’s golden ring
I watch the lilies and roses dancing
To the rhythm of the wind
I peer at the leaves in the chorus
And I glare as the weeds in the audience respond in wild applause
I hope that one day my children and grandchildren will see this amazing performance
