Innocence Meets War
A dimple on his right cheek
Sparkling brown eyes
And there on his face a smile
His laughter so contagious
Just so innocent
His small hands and tiny feet
The light soft brown hair
The family's entire world
Is this little boy
A bundle of joy
Happily playing with toys
What a perfect boy!
His heart contains purest love
Only four years old
His love is most genuine
Now he is turning eighteen
He grew up so fast
Something has changed inside of him
Off to the war he marches
Gone are his brown locks
His laughter a memory
No toys, just ear-splitting guns
He has seen it all
No longer so innocent
He writes no to his family
Too busy fighting
He had to grow up to fast
A grenade ended that man
But what is much worse
Is the war ended that boy
