Oh hello there
Bring up a chair
For I have a riddle for you.
It’s rather nice
Goes well with rice
And is suited for one or two.

A riddle, yes
A riddle less
Of smarts than of surprise
A riddle that,
From ‘neath my hat
Will spell out your demise.

For should you be
Hung from a tree
Or have your head removed?
Perhaps it’s best
You passed the rest
And to the queen of hearts behooved

She’ll yell it out
She’ll scream and shout
Off with her head right now!
The cards advance
(You pee your pants)
And your head comes off as they bow.

A headless body
Now isn’t that jolly?
All bloody and lacking a head.
Your head would then sit
On the ground for a bit
Till at last it fell still and dead.

So you see my dear Alice
You don’t belong in a palace
Nor in a chair or a bed.
Now that you’re here
Please, be a dear
And let me kill you dead.

The author's comments:
Inspired after hearing one of my friends rant about American McGee's Alice for nearly an hour. I composed the second verse then, based loosely around the Mad Hatter and his desire to kill Alice. The rest, surprisingly, came rather easily, considering how much I usually hate poetry that ryhmes.
Hope you enjoy, or at least laugh.

Brilliant! *hugs* I've been struggling with that dang line since I first wrote this poem. *goes to change it in the word document* Thanks so much!

American McGee would be proud. :)

Honestly, this is very well written. This only personal opinion, but I would have changed the last stanza to 'kill you instead', but that's just me.

Great work! ^_^
