Nomad’s Memory
Among all the mountains near and far,
Lofty peaks and unseen tarns
Never such a sight did he see
As the sunlight on älar.
The snowy summits high and proud,
Tips wreathed in winter storm
Glittering white snow and jagged dark rock
Contrasting on their huge forms.
Below their heights the rivers rushed,
In faraway glaciers born
Shaded by many trees mantled with moss,
A path through the forest worn.
The sky above was crystalline,
Bright and clear and blue
And from it the golden sunlight beamed down,
Bringing vibrance to every hue.
Though many may speak fair of mountain nights,
And yellow glacier lilies spread far
For him there is one beauty that towers above all
The sunlight streamed on the älar.
