Where I'm From
I am from fishing lures,
from spinning reels and custom rods.
I am from the green lawn.
Playing whiffle ball with bare feet.
I am from the holly tree,
reaching for the ball,
the terrorizing leaves,
that seem like magnets to my feet.
I’m from a spoiling grandma,
and a lollipop giver.
I am from perfect yards
and floors you could eat on.
I am from the wings to the antlers.
I am from feathers to fur.
I am from bright orange Grundens gear,
and sand everywhere.
I am from stripers and blues.
I am from derby winners.
I am from forties and fifties.
My blood is full of the ocean.
