Beneath the jazzy moonlit street,
The shimmer mask that's so upbeat,
The people of the moonlight woe,
Not ever'thing can glow...
Not ever'thing can glow...
They sing the Blues and mean 'em too,
Waiting for their sequenced cue,
Being judged from all around,
Trying to be found...
Trying to be found...
Harder breathing, Faster beat,
Keeping up with steady beat,
Seeing claps and every cheer,
Realizing the fear,
Everything is clear...
Everything is clear...
When the music stops a playin',
All those people stop a swayin',
The go weep in their shell.
No one sees their hell...
No one sees their hell...

Before writing this piece, I had studied Langston Hughes for a month. His poetry and ideals helped me develop the poem into the final copy.
