Dust shall conquer.
To each his own
the marble door, which leads
beyond the throne, crafted of silk
and roses and angelic statues
trumpeting their mirth to radiant skies filling
steadily with stars, a cup overflowing
with diamonds and gems, too numerous
or plentiful to count. And he steps away and marks the path of
that which he will follow from his asylum
without help from careless gods he twists the lock and it
moans with the sound of steel, metal upon metal
grating the past behind him.
