No Dog Paddle Allowed
I dove in the pool
So fast I could not breath
I started to sink
I stopped to think
What am I doing
The race had begun
I had to stop thinking
I had to start
I forgot what was happening
I didn’t really care
So I swam in my lane
Swam as fast as I can
I picked up the pace
Didn’t really care
That I couldn’t breath
And I wasn’t scared
I would finish the race
No matter what
I can do it
I know I can
Even if I don’t win
I don’t care
Because swimming is my passion
And I don’t need air.
I finished the race
Got third place
I did better than I though I would
And did more than I could.
