Farewell
Farewell
Farewell my dearest friend
Goodbye my truest love
How could the stars glisten in the firmament
While the sun falls from the sky?
This souring distance
Between living and dead
Has mutilated my melancholy soul
And has abolished my heart
To stand here at your grave
Adjacent and yet distant
Reminds me how impervious you’ve become
To all things that effect me
No longer must you eat
No longer must you drink
No longer must you breathe
And yet you sleep
While I can not
I pray you live a dream
That you have seen God’s face
Hoping that your hereafter is filled with joy
And a pleasurable peace
If you live a nightmare
Of everlasting pain
I’ll pray for your exemption from the torment
The others have to endure
Please wait for me my friend
The Reaper’s bells shall toll
And in those last interminable moments
Graciously I will say
Farewell
