The trees dream
slouched underneath
A fluffy blanket of golden leaves.
The birds at rest are gliding by
The stars their nightlights in the sky.
The dog whose paws move in her sleep
Is chasing rabbits, squirrels, sheep
The books sleep lying on their shelves
They dream of bears and knights and elves
My thoughts drift pondering the deep…
Perhaps I too should go to sleep.
