October Sky
The October sky is a deep blue-grey
It is befitting for such day
In the wind leaves swirl and grasses sway
While the October sky is a deep blue-grey
The leaves they drift and fall from up high
And south in V’s, the birds, they fly
In golden fields, the crows, they cry
And a deep blue-grey is the October sky
And the winter has drawn nigh
Barely is there a single birdcall
Still the blue-grey October sky
Reigns high above us all
Alas, now winter has closed in
Each animal hides in its darkened den
No more do leaves fall from up high
No more is the blue-grey October sky
