gaurding the house
and all the treasures inside
is a white picket fence
a white picket line

you put it together
with your own two hands
and we painted it that Sunday
with some old, white paint cans

it stands, never changing
outside of our house
symbolyzing our dedecation
for eachother, now

when our children come
and play in our yard
the white picket fence
is still standing strong

when the wind blows hard
and our kids hide in their rooms
that fence still stands
unchanging, unmoved

after a few years
the kids grow up fast
they go off to highschool
slow down! take a rest

the white picket fence
is now a little worn
somewhat chipped
but it still hasn't fell

the children come home after school
with a bunch of their friends
and we paint the fence
and get white all over our hands

its been twenty seven years now
and our children have grown
our house is quiet now
just me and you, alone

the white picket fence
you built so long ago
surrounds our house
still

as we grow old and tired
the paint chips again
and you go and paint it
with your old wrinkled hands

Besides the spelling errors, I kind of like this particular poem. It sounds a little song-ish. The picture also goes really well with it.

(By the way, check out my poem Regrets!)
