Am I not yet worthy enough
to be included in your throng of hypocrites?
You of the weak will and innocent ignorance?
Malice fully hurtful yet the epitome of life.
Future drug dealers and alcoholics, future beaters of your wives.
Can I not yet be accepted into the crowd of the known,
so I don’t have to travel the path
that I’m traveling on my own?
Can’t I just be accepted, lose myself to the mass?
Pretend that I don’t see our world coming to its last.
Ignore the cries of the babes from half a world away,
ignore the horrors of dictatorship pretend that everything’s okay.
To worry about my future and those of my fellow beings...
No let me slip in to oblivion because I don’t want to see it.
If ignorance is bliss than we have such a happy fate.
As we watch our world burn, no let me pretend that it’s OK.
but as we choose to turn our heads
and we choose naiveté
and we see our people hurting
and we recognize the hate
and we witness to the murders
and we stand against the shame
and you finally become aware that nothing is the same
no nothing is the same
no nothing is the same.
And the past seem to repeat bu t nothing seems to change…
And the devil is a lie but
we can’t see through the veil of sleep.
And he cries and he weeps yet we ignore our destiny.
Because there’s one who wants to save, but were stuck in our hurt
cant seem to find the way no it’s just “too much work."
So lets all stay ignorant
because ignorance is bliss
and if we all stay benighted
nothing will seem amiss
We’ll happily plead the fifth yes lets all just live like this
Because I’m taking a vow of ignorance
So that nothing seems amiss

i see my country drifting and nobody is doing anything about it. nobody is speaking up nobody ( and when i say that i mean the youth)cares.
well i care and im going to let my poetry and my voice ring out about it. im done letting my friends stay ignorant. and im done fighting to stay ignorant myself. this poem comes from a place of power and strength. its my way of speaking out.

Good metaphors, Bronte`, you've done some serious thinking about our world and it's need for strong positive persons who can stand up for change in our 'don't care' society. Keep up the good writing!
