I will return
In the town with no name whose people all sleep,
I wake.
Where movement is banned and the ropes are tied tight,
I shake.
In this darkened place where the people are numb,
I ache.
Where nothing can crack because everything’s frozen,
I break.
In this, my hell, where the others give up,
I sigh.
Where sound is forbidden and silence sustained,
I cry.
In this bleak place where hope is unheard of,
I try.
Where the ceilings are low and air is thick,
I fly.
In a world that’s withered and black and cold,
I thrive.
Where the roads are blocked by doubt and fear,
I drive.
In this cold place where the others surrender
I strive.
Where the dying soon become the dead,
I am alive.
From those who are flawed and cannot go back,
I’ll learn.
When the fire in their eyes go out,
I’ll burn.
The life among the living and free,
I’ve earned.
From a place that’s filled with all the dying,
To a world of newborn babies crying,
Where some are sad and some are sighing,
I will return.
