Rearview Memories
as the hampton sign is glowing red
we're driving the overpass
listening in silence to the tires' tread
as it so softly brushes against the road.
see, the thing is: we're not going home
the thing is: we're driving away
the thing is: you said we'd be fine
the thing is: we will be okay.
my memories are spinning inside
as i'm looking through thoughts in my mind
and the car sputters deeper into the night
as i fumble for the rewind.
see, the thing: we're not going home
the thing is: we're driving away
the thing is: you said we'd be fine
the thing is: we will be okay.
and now i remember that night
recall the clock screaming the time
it was too late to be on the phone
but you had wanted to say goodbye.
see, the thing is: we're not going home
the thing is: we're driving away
the thing is: you said we'd be fine
the thing is: we will be okay.
and now the lights come into view
and the city is inching towards me
and the car knows right where to go
this car is bringing me home.
